What is the deadline to register to vote?
The in-person deadline to register to vote is 10 days prior to any election.

In 2026, the primary election is May 12, 2026. The registration deadlines are:

April 24, 2026 - The postmark deadline for mailed-in registrations for the primary.

April 24, 2026 - The last day for voter registration done at the Department of Motor Vehicles or online. The last day for deputy registrars to register voters at community voter registration events.

6 p.m., May 1, 2026 - The last day for in person voter registration at the election office in order to vote in the primary   election.

In 2026, the general election is November 3, 2026. The registration deadlines are:

October 16, 2026 - The last day for voter registration done at the Department of Motor Vehicles or online. The postmark deadline for mailed-in registrations for the general. Also the last day for deputy registrars to register voters a community voter registration events.

6 p.m. October 23, 2026 - The last day for in person voter registration at the election office in order to vote in the general election.
Am I eligible to vote?
You are eligible to vote in Nebraska if you live in the state AND you are a citizen of the United States AND are at least 18 years old or you will be 18 by the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November of this year AND you are not a felon, or you are a convicted felon who has completed your sentence AND you have not been officially found to be non compos mentis (mentally incompetent.)
What information is requested on the voter registration form?
You will be asked to provide your first and last name and middle initial, your date of birth, your place of birth, your Nebraska Driver's license number, the last four digits on your Social Security card, your address, and your signature. You will also be asked to select a party affiliation. Additional information you may provide includes phone number, cell number and email. The registration application also includes an eligibility oath for you to read and sign.
When do I need to fill out a voter registration form?
You need to fill out a voter registration form when you first register to vote.

You need to update your registration when you have moved to a new address, changed your name (for example, after marriage or divorce) or change your party affiliation.

To be eligible to vote in an election, you must register 17 days before the election if registering by mail, online or through an agency, such as the DMV.  You have until 10 days before the election if registering in person at the election office.

To receive a ballot you must complete an Early Voting Application and return it to the Hall County Election Office, 200 S. Sycamore Street, Suite 8, Grand Island, NE 68801.

For a mailed ballot - applications will be accepted January 12, 2026 through May 1, 2026.  
For early voting in person or for a take-out ballot, applications are accepted April 13, 2026 through May 11, 2026 at the Hall County Election Office.
Primary election ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. May 12, 2026.

For early voting in person or for a take-out ballot, applications are accepted October 5, 2026 through November 2, 2026 at the Hall County Election Office.

Where do I vote on Election Day?
There are 24 polling sites in Hall County for 24 precincts. You may check your polling site online by visiting Nebraska Voter Check
